On October 21st, The Philadelphia Mayor’s Commission on People with Disabilities recognized Janet Fiore, CEO of The Sierra Group, with an Access Achievement Award for her work and dedication to people with disabilities.

Disability Mentoring Day
Dear Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) Mentors,
Janet Fiore, Stu Bush, and I would like to thank you for participating in the 2011 Disability Mentoring Day!
The nation’s largest job-shadowing program designed for people with disabilities, DMD allows career exploration to take place outside of the hiring context so that job seekers can learn about employers like YOU who are committed to hiring from a diverse workforce.
Since 1999, DMD has provided mentoring opportunities for over 85,000 job seekers! This year, you were all a part of the movement and we hope that you realize how much your participation is truly appreciated. (The students are already asking when the next DMD is scheduled!) Although DMD is only an annual event, The Academy is always looking for volunteers to do mock-interviewing and/or companies that are looking for interns.

Thank you again for taking time out of your busy schedule to participate in DMD and learn more about The Academy. Together we are driving up employment for people with disabilities, including veterans!
Philadelphia Marathon
Congratulations and thank you to the runners that completed the marathon and half-marathon as part of Team Academy to raise money for our Liberty Resources Academy.
Excellence in Action
Many of our students have had life-changing experiences at The Academy. Through Assistive Technology, Writing, Computers and more we teach that it is still possible to achieve your dreams, regardless of the obstacles that life has placed in your path. "Excellence in Action" preserves the stories that remind us all of the importance of the relationships formed and the lessons learned at The Academy.
