Tolu Lanrewaju's 2011 Philadelphia Half-Marathon Fundraising Page
Hi Folks:
On November 20th, I'm running in a Half Marathon. I'm not just running to run, I'm running to reverse the high rate of unemployment for Americans with disabilities.
Over 54.4 million Americans – or one in five – have a disability. People with disabilities are the most rapidly growing minority group, and many disabilities, whether acquired or not, affect every aspect of one’s life. The Academy at Liberty Resources provides pre-vocational training for adults with disabilities through a series of classes, which include Business Communications, Intro to Computers, Assistive Technology and more. Its mission is to help adults with disabilities find meaningful employment by providing the skills and accommodations necessary to stay at work or return to work.
Every penny that you give will go towards helping people with disabilities. A donation of $25 could help provide much needed services for students at The Academy, including tutoring; $50 can help people gain career supports and coaching, $100 will assist with specialized technology, and your donation of $500 or more can be used to provide the many customized wrap around services that our job seekers with disabilities need in order to get employed for the first time, or to re-enter the work-force!
